At The Community School, we strive to create a living environment that is safe, honest, and welcoming to all. Each September, eight students come together to live at our three story converted farmhouse in downtown Camden. Over the year, the school becomes “home” to our students, who live, learn and work together; share new adventures and form long-lasting relationships. A typical day at The C School includes both on and off campus activities. While on campus, students spend their time in core classes and group specialty classes. They are also expected to complete daily chores, plan and prepare meals, and share meal time together. Free time on campus usually includes hanging out in the living room with laptops, musical instruments, journals, etc.
Staff and students share in decision making and use the relational education model and restorative justice practices to build trusting and respectful relationships.
Living at the C School means having fun while also learning from one another. We ask students to be patient, understanding, and forgiving with themselves and others.
