On Friday, April 15, seven mid-coast Maine celebrities will take the stage of the Camden Opera House to show off their best dance moves in support of The Community School and the third annual Dancing with Local Stars benefit event. These seven stars will waltz, tango, samba, hustle, swing, foxtrot and cha cha their way into the hearts of audience members, all while supporting the tuition assistance fund of Maine’s oldest alternative high school.
This year’s star lineup includes Camden Harbour Inn owner Raymond Brunyanszki dancing the samba; Chad Ridge of The Right Choice Challenge dancing the foxtrot; Parker Laite, Sr. performing a waltz to “Vito’s Waltz” from The Godfather; Horch Roofing owner Peter Horch performing that 1970’s favorite, The Hustle, to “Shake your Groove Thing” by Peaches and Herb; Nancy Schultz of Raymond James Financial Services, Inc., dancing the swing to Bette Midler, Cellardoor Winery owner Bettina Doulton performing the cha cha to The Commodores and Karen Grove of Boston Financial Data Services dancing the tango to Carmen’s “Tango.”
The stars have been busy rehearsing their dance numbers with the professional dancers of Swing and Sway Dancing, who will be paired with each of the seven stars on the big night. Those dancers are Alysa Jackson, Tessa Antolini, and Swing and Sway owner Christian Clayton. Clayton will also perform a tango with fellow dancer Kea Tesseyman of Kinetic Energy Alive. Tesseyman will also perform hip hop, lyrical and interpretive dance with her own dance troupe and the students of The Community School. Other professional dancers and dance troupes who will round out this incredible, once in a lifetime show include, African belly dance by Zumba with Korinn, flamenco with Helena Datura Melone, salsa with On the Edge Fitness Group, tap by the Rockport Dance Conservatory, gypsy and tambourine variation dances with The Atlantic Ballet Company of P2P Dance, and a Time Out half time dance with Katie and Ryan Thompson.
As always, Master of Ceremonies Terry Bregy will keep the crowd on its toes with his witty banter, and refreshments will be served during intermission. Stars will be transported to the event by Sterling Limousine, and hair, make up, photography and videography will be donated by Veloute, From This Day Forward, E. Stanley Photography and WAV Media. Dancing with Local Stars is generously sponsored by Richard and Mary Jane Schotte, Martha Coolidge Design, The Free Press, Camden Real Estate Company and Benchmark Realty.
This general admission show starts at 7:00 pm; doors open at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $20, or $10 for kids 12 and under, and are available at The Grasshopper Shop in Rockland, both Camden branches of Camden National Bank, The Camden Town Office, HAV11 and The Community School.
